 River Boat House Assignment

Assignment Brief- create a stylized river boat house painting with back-ground and foreground elements that help describe location, time of day, and possibly country of origin. This assignment will focus on painting from the mid-ground outward. Design the boat first in a 2 point perspective with a mid level to low level horizon line. Paint the boat in local color. The we will add in the back ground and the foreground detail last, with a dedicated light source.

For the light consider lamps, sun set, docked buildings, light rays through the clouds.  

The boat house: should be a water floating boat any cultural background (not flying) with a multi- level house attached going up at least 2 stories. Think of embellishment and visual weight here! It should should feel unique with character an extra items that might emphasize the silhouette read of the boat including: patio, small garden, viewing room, attached kitchen, observation room, fishing props, crane system, roof tiles, cooking vents, etc.

Step 2-Clean up the Boat, Paint Local Color in Mid Range Values

Step 3-Consider ideas for the background

Step 4- Consider Ideas for the foreground

Step 5- Paint in the back ground first in light value scale range with more soft pastels

Step 6- Paint in foreground in with richer darker value scales with more black.

Step 7- Add in warm light source and adjust painting to match.
